About us
With the decision of the German Joint Science Conference (GWK) on November 13, 2020, Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) became a Center for National High-Performance Computing in the NHR Alliance. The NHR@KIT competence center located at KIT's Scientific Computing Center (SCC) became operational on January 1, 2021.
Within the NHR Alliance, NHR@KIT coordinates the Earth System and Climate Sciences field and also serves the application areas of Materials Research, Particle Physics and Engineering.
With the supercomputer HoreKa, NHR@KIT became the first center to dedicate a new computer system to the alliance on June 1, 2021.
